It is created on a route by route basis.

It is a membership system involving a pre-screening process to qualify members and ensure safety

It uses flexible carpooling technology to track participation, ensure safety, and transfer ride credits

It has dedicated parking at the home end in a special design that is laid out by destination

Carpools are formed in order of arrival (no predetermined or 'booked' seats, no need to call if you are late or sick)

It has specified drop-off points near work where riders leave the carpool

It has specified pick-up points near work where fuller cars are again formed at the end of the work day

It incorporates a 'guaranteed ride home' system to ensure no-one is stranded, late at night or in a personal emergency

It is supported by a website where members can provide feedback on trips, buy or sell ride credits, search for lost items or report found items, and pay the fees for using the system

The system can operate instead of buses, to get more passengers on the buses, or to handle peak volumes in cooperation with the buses, as shown in the following diagram:
