pick-up drop-off point

At the beginning of the work day flexible carpools drive to the destination area and stop at (or near) a designated drop-off point. This point will have been chosen based on the work-places of most of the members for that route. The drop-off point is probably not signposted, after all it is just a place that people get dropped off.

At the end of the work day riders walk to a pick-up point that will have been chosen for its convenience to the work-places and also for the traffic flows. The pick-up point is a time restricted no-parking zone, with 'Rideshare Stop' signs. Drivers drive to the pick-up point. See example graphic above.

In order to get these signs put up, the local traffic authorities have to have agreed that this is a good place (safe for people to stop, safe for getting back into the traffic).

In some cases there will be a pick-up point close to home to take people to the flexible carpool park at the beginning of the work day. These will also have Rideshare Stop signs.

So if everything works according to plan, you will walk to the pick-up point at the end of the day and catch a ride. But we all know that plans change.....and sometimes there's a daytime emergency. That's when Guaranteed Ride Home saves the day!
